The Salvation Army & WINMAR® Partnership

At WINMAR®, we always believed in having a positive and meaningful impact in the communities in which we operate. For over 15 years, WINMAR® has proudly supported the Salvation Army and the organization’s aim to give hope and support to vulnerable people across Canada.

The growing similarities in our core values and motivations have strengthened our partnership over the years. The Salvation Army is a trusted ally to provide immediate aid and relief for its communities in the most culturally relevant way. When disaster strikes, WINMAR® provides assistance to those who find themselves in need of resources, a helping hand, and the strength of community.

To that end, WINMAR® has focused on engaging our franchisees, employees, and the general public to help fund the Salvation Army’s social programs including:

  •   Hunger relief through food banks and feeding programs
  •   Shelter for those experiencing homelessness
  •   Support for those needing housing
  •   Rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction
  •   Long-term and palliative care
  •   Christmas assistance
  •   After-school programs
  •   Youth camps and nutrition programs
  •   Life skills classes
  •   Anger management

We’re delighted to have contributed countless necessary items since 2003 through year-round food, toy, and cash donation collection, as well as diverse, seasonal fundraising efforts such as the Backpack Campaign to support children in need of school supplies; the digital Christmas Campaign to supplement Christmas Kettle donations; the Better Late Than Never Christmas party; and our sponsorship of an Annual Christmas Breakfast in Vancouver. In 2018, we hope to DOUBLE the funds raised from the 2017 Christmas Kettle campaign.

The challenge donated 80 backpacks to The Salvation Army in Durham for elementary, primary and high school students. Thank you to WINMAR® Durham who donated 60, McDougall Insurance Oshawa branch donated 8 and Mitchell & Whale Insurance Brokers in Whitby donated 12 backpacks.

Through our ongoing involvement, we have also committed to assisting the Salvation Army with its property restoration needs across Canada. WINMAR® comes through for the Salvation Army in over 90 locations across Canada, 24/7 to assist with emergency and restoration work.

At WINMAR, we feel it is crucial to improve not only the quality of life for our clients through our services, but the quality of life for the residents of the communities we live, work, and play in. It’s an honour for us to have such a long-lasting partnership with the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in Canada.
